Healthy At Home & At Work
Healthy At Home
To begin, we’d like to ask you a question. Your answer might leave you wondering.
How does it make you feel to know that the apples we send you are the same apples we feed to our children? How does that compare to feeding your children apples that you have purchased at the grocery store?
You might wonder who grew them and how often they were handled (or mishandled) down the ‘long and winding road’ to your store. You might also wonder how many times the apple you chose on the store shelf has been handled by employees and other shoppers. You might wonder if your apple has rolled off that fancy display once or twice before you got there or how long that apple has been sitting on the shelf. Kind of opens up a whole new world of wonder.
When you become an ECO member you will know exactly who grew your fruit, who inspected it and that your apples are certified organic. You will know how the fruit was handled from the time it was picked to the time you receive it directly from our orchard.
That makes a healthy home.
Organic apples are totally free of controversial chemical residues and unnatural waxes. You could peel the apple, but that removes a major portion of the apple’s health benefits. Most of the apple’s antioxidants reside in the skin, which also helps to complete the flavor.
When you treat your child to an organic apple directly from our farm you can tell a story about where it came from…a story of history, heart, struggle and family.
Healthy At Work
In today’s workforce, many people spend most of their day seated. It’s tough to stay healthy without activity, and even tougher with all the unhealthy snack foods that make their way into the office and, unfortunately, through our bodies. Many common snacks are filled with high fructose corn syrup and unhealthy preservatives that create ups and downs in the human body’s blood sugar level. This can wreak havoc on an employee’s productivity.
Apples, on the other hand, are one of the healthiest foods on earth. The Overall Nutritional Quality Index gives apples a 96 out of 100 score, beating out such foods as brown rice, bananas, salmon and others.
Cherries contain the antioxidant melatonin. A slight increase in melatonin in the blood can have a positive effect on a person’s sleeping patterns which can translate into higher productivity in the workplace.
Why not keep your employees productive and offer a healthy snack on the job? Order a box or two each month for the whole office to share! ECO offers weekly shipments for $29 per box plus shipping when you order four weeks or more. We will vary the apple varieties to give your employees or a new flavor each week. For our business customers, we will carry over the discount for client Christmas gifts or other occasions. Or you can adopt a tree on behalf of one of your clients and have the fruit shipped directly to them. |
